I would note— Steve isn't a man; they've been canonically nonbinary since the days of Notch. Similarly, Alex is not a woman, but a nonbinary person with slimmer shoulders, longer hair, and less facial hair.
Rabbi Yirmeya ben Elazar said: When the Holy One blessed be He created Adam the first man, He created him androgynous. That is what is written: “He created them male and female” —Beshirit Rabbah 8:1
From the presence of the Villagers— mensches every one of them— we can conclude that Judaism exists in Minecraft. For the Villagers are welcoming to the stranger, and they go above and beyond on the mitzvah of leaving the edges of the field unharvested for the widow— they will not begrudge you if you reap every stalk. And the Villagers face persecution from the Illagers who claim descent from them, just as the Jews face persecution from the Christians who claim to be our successors. And, most importantly, the Villagers create golems to defend them, just as Rabbi Loew created the golem in Prague to defend our ancestors from the pogroms.
And it is from the existence of the golems that my next point arises. Golems, as it is known, are a gift from Ha'Shem, animated by Her truth and the holy Name. Therefore, if golems can be built, then Ha'Shem must be present. Furthermore, consider the Nether: who are the people of Hell in this world? They are swine, the most profane of animals. Thus it can be concluded that not only is Ha'Shem present in this world, but also that the Nether was created according to Her design. And if the Nether, cursed as it is, was created according to the will of Ha'Shem, then how much more so must She have had a hand in the creation of the Overworld, blessed as it is with milk and honey, with wax for candles and goat's horns for shofars?
And if Ha'Shem formed this world, would She not also have formed the people of it? For it is known that She did not rest in creation until She created mankind after Her own image. And if, as Rabbi Yirmeya says, Ha'Shem created Adam both male and female, then why would She not create Steve and Alex both male and female? The others would come later, some male, others female, and yet others both and neither. But just as in Eden, the first two people of the Overworld were created both male and female.
One final note. You may ask, "How could a man as bigoted as Notch create humanity according to G–d's design, and how could such a man create Jews who live upright and righteous?" It is simple— man was created in the image of Ha'Shem, and that image cannot be utterly erased. And it is written that Ha'Shem uses evil for good. And furthermore, it is written that the Serpent was the cleverest of all Ha'Shem's creations. And who is the Serpent in this story? The one who brought the Fruit to humanity— the red apple, which was once obtained only from Notch, but now grows in orchards throughout the land, for Steve and Alex and their people have outgrown and overtaken the Serpent. And just as the Serpent of Eden once followed the will of Ha'Shem before falling from its purpose, so too did the Serpent of the Overworld once create along the example of Ha'Shem before falling from his own.
